My rifle shoots under 1/2" @100M all day. Prove it.
Taken from a popular thread on another site. Take the Challenge and post your sucessfull results. THE RULES
* Five consecutive 5 shot groups on one target shot at 100M (5 groups only, must be on same sheet). 100yds OK for those who don't shoot metric.
* Nothing may be placed on the target which could potentially hide a "flier".
* There are no caliber or rifle restrictions--so stock to custom
* One photo must include the groups, with caliper measuring the smallest group.
* One photo must show rifle as shot ...including the rest sysem used to shoot the groups.
This is not a contest, just a "challenge". Do not post groups unless they are all under 1/2". Please do not derail.

My example is not that great as I wrote down the group sizes above each group which makes it a problem to show the calipers on the small group.
Rifle has a Barnard S Action / 24" krieger light palma barrel / Sako stock. Chambered in 30BR.

I was surprised how diffiicult cold weather shooting really is...until I took the challenge. Frankly, I expected all my groups to be under 0.4, but that never happened.

Suggestion made at the Range today to give credit to the gunsmith that chambered the rifles shooting the successfull CHALLENGE. Retro credit for the smith chambering (and the stock-work to fit the Sako) for this 30 BR was Ian Robertson.

Here we are, two months after the CHALLENGE'S first post and not many pics, so I tried the same rifle combination with which I met the 300M challenge--and stepped down to 100M-- I had to chase a couple of groups because the initial shot went a bit low-- and I'm still not getting "warm weather groups...but here's what happened.
Rifle is 30BR in Barnard S action / Krieger Short BR -- Smith work by Karl Schmidt
barrel / CG Trigger / Reiben Stock

April 19th --- over 75 days after the initial CHALLENGE and no other AO shooters with pics... I think Gunnutz is up to a dozen different shooters.

Working up a new load
I thought this was a great thread and so after being at the range on Wednesday working up some new loads, I thought I would post this scan.
Shot it with a stock Browning A-bolt in 7mm with Barnes 160 TSX at 100 yards with IMR 7828. Don't have a picture of the rifle now, but was off a bench with bags at front and rear. The two upper targets were without a hold on the fore stock just to see the dispersion in the group, and the lower with a proper hold of my one hand on the fore stock. Just working up the load so maybe some tweaking is possible with LOA. Wind was strong, so there is one flier.
I used a program called "on Target" to measure the group instead of calipers. This way I can keep the scanned version without needing the paper copy. Measurement of center to center is 0.447 moa or 0.468".

Some nice shooting ABL and BRJ. Good on you for getting out. You should take a look at the factory sporter challenge or the under an inch challenge for those factory rigs 'cause it will drive you nuts trying to put 25 consecutive shots under 1/2" with a factory sporter. Thanks for posting.

Thank you for your kind words.
sns2,
my friend, it has been long time since we met. hope everything goes well
Planning to go hunting in the next one or two years, haha.
260 Rem,
Can't say enough 'thank you' to you, sir, for the help in the past few years. lots of explanation/eleborate .etc. I did learn a lot, and will continue to learn from you, lol .
Do you remember the issue I have, 'when the fire pin is triggerred, the cross-hair/scope/rifle will move to left'. I finally figured it out, :jump . My scope is a slightly further to my face, so I tend to put my head forward to compensate that, this lead to stock butt is not shouldered straightly(not 90 degree). Therefore, when the rifle has vibration, like released its fire pin, the rifle will move horizontally(by counterforce from my shoulder). Due to I'm right handed, it will move to left. A small shooting skill, casued me lots of time/energy/bullets ...
58thecat,
yeah, another good thing for this rifle is very comfortable. I can get high by just dry fire it, lol. Save bullets and don't need go to range. But I already have an AI, and I feel AI is a much more precision rifle, didn't fit me good though ...
JWCalgary,
As Deezel mentioned, it's "SubMOA" from APP store.
Cheers,
Pompey

I brought this challenge over from another site way back in ‘13, from another shooter that pulled it from yet another site ... I got the impression it was originally started as a reality check for shooters that were convinced a single group represented the capability of their rig.
Enjoy
