You can acess the lake from Mission hill road and fish off the winter road like most people are doing right now.

What is brutal about it? To much snow, lots of ridges, or water and ruts?

On the lake right now with a snowmobile. No issues getting around, aside from things being rough due to the thaw and freeze.
Fishing has been a bit slow, but a couple decent ones at least. A 26” and a 27”. Still looking for that 30” through the ice here.

I still need to break the 30” mark there. That’s the pursuit anyway.

perch has been pretty much not existent for 10 years plus now. Walleye have taken over and the big pike are pretty much gone the odd one

I was fishing there on Saturday and the nice gentleman beside us happened to catch one, maybe 8" long. First one I have seen caught in a long time.

The perch are starting to make a slight comeback. As mentioned, nothing of size. The betting studies show they are slowly coming back.

Planning to fish by the Sir Winston Churchill PP this coming week. Any info on the status of access at that location would be very helpful.

We will have 3 families in cabins next weekend at the park.
I think we are going to bring a quad and see how that goes.
I was wondering if we would need an auger extension.
Never ice fished at LLB before. Any info on access and ice thickness would be greatly appreciated.

It was getting close to extension time a couple weeks ago, mainly because of the crusty snow, thin ice layer, and then flood water layer before the actual thick ice.
I was using a sled, but I think you should be fine with a quad unless they got a bunch of snow since I was there last.
Be prepared to move around. My experience has been an area is good for one or two aggressive fish, and then you need to move to get a few more. I’ve yet to find an area to “camp out” and consistently catch fish.

Thanks for the info.
I’ll have to go get an extension then. Just to be safe.
