I've done well with ajustabubbles on the Bow, but only below carseland, 6ft leader, bubble 7/8 full of water and copper johns and hares ears are money, 8ft 6 inch Shimano Clarus med action steelhead rod paired with a Shimano Stradic3000fi reel, i can cast as far as i want, however the further out you are the harder it is to set the hook on this rig without breaking off as most fish hit 45 degrees downstream and slam hard, i use 6lb flouro leader so those carseland pigs can be a challenge to not break off as they run hard and test your gear, i also echo the comment about flipping your bail right before your cast hits the water to avoid tangle, i also count to 10 before i begin reeling to give the nymph time to sink below the bubble.
Its different and i laughed at the guy who showed me,but success never lies and this method practiced can and will produce fish in all types of water, i ALWAYS have some bubbles with me, nothing like chucking a fly 100 yards and reaching spots once thought to be out of reach via the fly.
