100 yard bow shot "competition".
Got a little inspiration for this from lefty and a fella from the guns n ammo thread.
Here are the rules, you have 5 consecutive shots to hit a target 10"inches in diamter at 100 yards with your bow. Pictures are always a nice addition.
Ansolutely no calling bs on anyones photo's. Your post will be removed. So play nice.
This is meant to be a "fun" challenge to ourselves.
For those who dont have access to a spot to shoot out to 100 yards we will have to change up the rules. Any idea's are welcome.
Best overall shooter or most improved, i will send a 25$ gift card. To your outdoor store of choice.
Any suggestions on how to make this a little better are welcome.

Great idea, I haven't shot my bow much all winter but should be possible to accomplish, 5 shot on a pie plate size target. Can't wait to see how small of a group some of those 3D archers can do. I bet it will be pretty small.

Good idea to get people shooting and having some fun! The picture of the group
I shot almost makes the grade but is around 12 inches or so.

Just watched Kurt's 80 yard video, looks like there will be some serious shooters in this challenge, of which I will not be one! lol

Just a quick question as I was unclear on the rules . Must all 5 arrows hit the 10" circle or just 1 out of 5?

Pretty sure all have to be within 10 inch circle to completely meet the challenge. Keep in mind it is just for fun.

This would be my questions as well because I might have a problem having all 5 arrows hit the bag.
Time to use the "gopher arrows" to figure out my hold over as I have never shot at 100 yards. I did some at 75 and needed 14-16 inch hold over on top of my 60 yard pin (62 lbs at 29" and 415 gr arrows). I might need to do the "tooth pick taped to bottom of my sight" method.
I will match Hydro's offer for a $25 gift card but it is going to the shooter with the most lost or destroyed arrows.... I may win my own prize.

lol...Actually shooting at 100 is easier than most think...with practice...
Just as 50-60yds is...if you can shoot 20-30-40 yds consistantly
Back in the day of slower bows I had 100 yds down pat with tip of arrow...now I may have to paint an outer dot on my Ugly Cookie...lol
*Cheat Hint* on a calm day a small helim balloon and six feet of cord will give you an aim point...lol
Im up for the challange, sounds like fun....

Perhaps a photo of the bow that the group is shot with would be cool too. Hunting bow or target set up.

So I got out as far as 80 yards today. It took some guesstimates and luck not to lose an arrow. After about 7 round I figured out that the top of my level bubble is exactly 80 yards (stupid luck). But concentratng on the top of the level had my left/right going all over the place. 100 yards is going to be interesting and i am going to need alot more practice and maybe a new sight

Do all five arrows have to be inside the 10" ring, or is just touching the 10" plate count?
I don't know if I even have five consecutive arrows that all weigh the same weight!
So far my two best long range groups are 3 arrows inside a 2" circle at 80yds and 3 arrows inside a 3" circle at 100yds.
Here's a thought for the guys who can't reach out to 100yd range, 1" per 10yds as a rule of thumb. This isn't exactly the same, but on the right track. When your shooting out to 100, not only will wind have a big role in where your arrow lands, but arrow weight will be more of a factor, consistent arrow weight.
Sounds like fun, I won't be able to enter any time soon, I just played musical chairs with my sights after buying a new bow and I don't have any of my bows sighted in now. I have 21 pins to set up, it'll take a bit of tinkering.
I'm looking forward to seeing the results of this contest as they unfold.
A couple more questiosn though; How many times can you enter, and is it just the tightest 100yd group or is it every group inside a 10" circle?

Seems far but I'll try in next few weeks.
Anyone know how far those slow-mo Luminock shots were at the bear target on Wild TV ?
I'd guess 75 yds.

Ho long is this challenge on for Hydro?
I would lie to participate after I put my new Worlds Best Sting on and have my bow tuned by L.O.S.T. Arrow in the summer and get my new arrows, after I intentionally destroy my Bemans on the Iron Bear lol.

Lets say may 1st?
Give some people an extra few weekends to shoot.
Or put it to a vote? Majority rule.

In Alberta on May 1st there still could be two feet of snow in many places...lol
Maybe June 1st will give more shooters a chance on dry ground...

July 30th. Whenever you gentlemen decide what the end date is for Hydro's excellent challenge, I will post my pictures this summer, when I post my 500 yard offhand pictures! Best of luck to all!

Wind? lol
I am actually looking forward to watching them Benams disintegrating upon impact with the bear because they do fracture and splinter just hitting the ground, should be quite the show on steel.

100 yard bow shot "competition".
I bought a new bow last Friday from Lawrence at Accurate, what a great guy to deal with! Got it home and set it up last weekend, tied the peep in and got the sight calibrated Wednesday night after I re-timed and tuned it up after the string and cables had settled. Finally got out today to shoot distance. Went to 100 yards and this is my second group. It's the best of the 5 groups I shot at 100 yards today.
I seemed to be getting a lot of horizontal spread, I think this bow needs some more weight on the stab, as well as a back bar to offset the sight weight. I also ordered some side plates, as I find the grip not the greatest for me. Hopefully I can get the horizontal solved!
Last arrow of the day was at 75. Dialed 75 into the sight and let her rip. I didn't see where it went, and was treated to this when I went to the butt! I'm l liking the kingpin too!
The bow is a nitrum turbo, and I think it will be a shooter! As you can see it is set up as a hunting rig. It's very fast too and extremely efficient. Very satisfied with it so far.

Great shooting norman!
Other than the one arrow to the right, thats a very very tight group!
Looks like you can hit a toonie at 75 yards.
Sharp looking new bow.
