Broken plastic on Tikka

I have a Tikka T3 in synthetic and I noticed the other day while hunting that the plastic shroud that is part of the back bolt was cracked. I am not sure if this is the same "co-polymer" that they use on there clips, but none the less, does any one know where I can get a replacement part? I hope it doesn't cost near as much as there clips, but something tells me.....

is that rifle chambered in .223 rem by any chance?

X2... I had the same problem when I picked up my T-3 270 WSM 5 years ago. Stoeger's number is (905) 436-9077. They mailed me the part for free within a few days.

IF you are in Edmonton then you can bring the gun to WSS new branch and talk/show to Tikka rep. I met him today and if I saw him tomorrow, I will ask him about it.

Hardly believable. From everything I've read on the internet there are no plastic parts on a Tikka. Just space ship grade polymer.

This is hardly the first one to do that and I would NOT want my face behind that thing when it came loose.

Plastic and Shroud for some silly reason to my humble opinion don't belong in the same sentence. "That" piece of plastic is cosmetics...junk it and you're still good to go.

If you had a primer blowout or case head separation wouldn't that be you last line of defence to redirect the gases? Away from your eyes. If they pop off easy then it sounds like a bad design.

If you live near Edmonton, I would take the gun into wholesale on the south side and bitch at the TIKKA REP who is there this weekend, you never know, he may make it right at no cost to you.

Just thought I would follow up... I talked to the Tikka rep that is at Wholesale's new southside store and he is going to have a new shroud mailed out to me for free. He was a nice guy, but he told me "not to drop my gun again, because that's how the shrouds break." I found that pretty funny because I can assure you it didn't break from me dropping my gun.

He also said the gun functions perfectly fine without it.

I might trade for something with more metal, it's just too bad cause my tikka shoots 3/8" group at 100 yards.

That is the purpose of a bolt shroud yes.

After all I've read about the fancy 200 mile/ hour co-poly non plastic material that is on the Tikka, I was just about convinced to buy one. Sure glad I didn't
buy a gun made out of recycled pop bottles. I think I will purchase a good old steel and wood brand gun.

I tend to agree with ya Tonto, I just wonder how much longer we'll have that choice though.
