My "Does it all" rifle
In the past 6 months I've sold about 6 rifles, last night I bought 1 back. A lightly used HS Precision Pro2000 SA in 300WSM. It came with a Swarovski 2.5x10x42 Habicht scope, 100 rounds of ammo, 50 new brass and 2 sets of dies. Bought it off a friend who purchased new in 2007. This leaves me with only 2 rifles left, I'm going for quality not quantity. This one is good from mice to moose, so much so, I'm contemplating selling my custom Sako 75, 340 Weatherby Mag too. What's your dream "Do it all rifle"? Or do you already own it?

Wildcat ultralight KS hunter stock
Krieger sendero profile barrel 26" long
Trigger tech primary trigger I believe
Kwik clip bottom metal
Probably gonna top it with a NF NXS

My do it all rifle since 1989 has been my leftie Rem 700 barrelled in 340 Wby mag by the late Ron Propp.
With a controlled expansion 250 I can drive a bullet lengthwise through a moose or elk.
Keep the Sako 75!

My Tikka T3 Stainless in 30-06 and my Sako Quad in 17hmr/22LR are the only 2 rifles id ever really need if I had to get rid of the rest of the collection.
Id switch out the T3 for a Sako 85 Stainless Laminated... but no reason to as the T3 has always performed for me even with 3-9x40 4200 Bushnell scope on it. Scope has not moved or had any issues in 10 years of good use. If I did swap to a Sako 85 Id probably stay with the 30-06 caliber and throw a better scope on it.

Mine is a 7mm RM Browning Abolt Medallion w/ a Leupold 3-10 Vari-X 3. Only rifle I hunt with for big game. Never felt a need for anything else. Taken everything from coyotes to moose. I only shoot the 160gr Federal trophy Tip.

Just before I retired, I had a custom 7mmstw built, The action is a Stiller Predator, with an extended Wyatt magazine box, PTG bottom metal, Timney trigger, and a match grade, fluted barrel. This was pillar bedded into a McMillan McSwirly stock, and a Swaroski Z5-3.5-18x44 scope was mounted in Tally Lightweights.

X2 25-06 is highly under rated my 100gr sciroccos moving along at a sizzling 3350fps do the trick on anything from elk down to light game paired with the 70gr blitskings at 3600 FPS for coyotes and prairie dogs it’s an all around death ray.

Just cant
I just can't get to the one gun. Minimum would be 3. A 22 c.f. For coyote hunting ( pelt saver) a lever action 45-70 for stand hunting, still hunting, and big bear gun. Finally a long barrel fast magnum in either 7mm or 300. Only reason I choose a magnum over a std cartridge is the capability at longer range. The short handy gun would handle thick bush hunting and sitting in a tree situation. The long rifle would handle everything from bean fields to mountain tops. For all the different hunting styles I do one rifle just can't be perfect for all situations. Could they be made to work? yup. Is there a better tool for the job? Yup. Would I want to go into the thick stuff for a wounded bear with a 7-08....Not my first choice. Would I hunt bear with a 7-08? You bet. For me there's necessity for a few different calibers but more importantly a few different platforms to cover my hunting styles.

Rifle is complete now minus paint.
I'll weigh it tomorrow and the kwik clip works if you bend the lips. Feeds so smooth I though I was missing rounds when I closed the bolt.

I hate to think what a .300 WSM would do to a mouse. You might be able to find the tail afterwards. I like my 7mm RM...which might also obliterate a mouse (though the bullet didn't expand the time I shot a grouse with it, leaving a neat hole just above the breast).

I have a Bighorn LA SR3 cut for Wyatt's extended box (3.825"). Shouldered 7mm Rem mag and 28 Nosler barrels on their way from PVA and Benchmark. Going into a manners EH1 with BDL mini chassis. Interchangeable bolt heads allow me all kinds of options.

I had my first rifle, a tang safety ruger M77, rechambered to to a 280AI over 20 years ago and didn’t “need” anything else since. Last year I finally had an itch to build something, but that Ruger will never leave my safe.

Its hard to have 1 rifle to do it all
I bit the bullet and set up 3 "main" rifles that i will probably use for a very long time
I can take 2 with me on any trip, any place, for anything (besides some dg but i do have a 416) on the planet.
Center piece is a gunwerks magnus 300 win mag
Can find ammo for it anywhere on the globe. I load the 215gr bergers and the 200 a frames for it.

The 30-06 was always the "all round rifle" It is functional caliber but really does do anything really well. 9.3x62 or .375 H&H are really good alternatives especially if bigger or toothy critters are on the menu... The 6.5x55 swede is really all a personkind needs for the vast majority of big game in Canada or a 7mm/08.

Trades I would interested in:
- Sightron rifle scopes, 4.5x14x42mm or 4x16x42mm
especially! with the HHR reticle. (no duplex pls.)
- older 6x fixed scopes with fine X or target dot.

Did you get that elk near the nuclear power plant?
He actually looks kind of happy....In a morbid sort of way. Relieved there'll be no more taunting from his peers I bet.
