I've run Hinton to Whitecourt section a couple times in river boat. The last time we had to help a group of canoers from GP. One of their group was showing signs of hypothermia from exposure after a couple days on river. Built a big bonfire to warm him up & offered to take him with us to Hinton, but he was looking better after a good warm up. It was middle of August. Beautiful stretch of river.

I live on the river and canoe it both up and down from Hinton. The bridge on highway 40 is a problem for some, other than that the goose necks can be bad. The amount of water flow has a big bearing on how long the trip is going to take and the rapids. if you need more info PM me.

Just noticed in the fishing regs you can't keep any fish . What a waste . Not sure if it would be worth going here anymore

Yup, been fishing/camping on that river for years every sept long. Since the contaminant spill and they closed it to keeping, haven't been back as most of my elder family wants to keep their catch and don't want to drive that far just to camp.

Fishing is still good and you can keep from the Berland from what my friends say who still camp there in late sept.
