Default 243ai question

So I have a few questions about the ackley improved cartridges. What is the advantages and disadvantages to doing this? Does it improve accuracy or just make a barrel burner? What's the ball park price to get this done? I have a browning medallion 243 that I am tossing the idea around.

If you are on a budget it’s not worth it.

If you can afford to play its is better than a 243wssm.

I'm with wally 338.

I have 1 AI in my safe, and I love it, but after making cases and buying dies, the extra 100Fps I get are hardly worth the effort.

Yes, you get a bit more speed, but the biggest advantage is that cases don't stretch and require trimming nearly as often.

I was going to answer your question but these fine gents took the words from my mouth. Except for the part about not getting another. i have 1 and I'm building another. i really like having someting different is all. If you have a compitent gun smith and you're seriously looking at getting this done. I have a newish (used 3 times) PTG reamer and gauges you can borrow. Could save you a little money anyways. Message me when you plan on getting this done. Happy shooting.

I just like having something different and my wife is getting tired of me buying/trading guns so I thought about modifying the guns I have. Kind of a win win if you ask me.

That is the most ridiculous reason to get an AI chamber. I could never understand this. Trimming cases is cheaper and much much quicker than forming cases ever thought of being.

I would personally use the 243slr. That would involve setting the barrel back in an existing rifle though.
