Default Men killed in Winnipeg restaurant shot each other at the same time

Finally a story with a happy ending, 2 handguns recovered two less gang members

Victims of a double homicide in downtown Winnipeg earlier this week were members of the same street gang, and shot and killed each other, police say.

Anthony Brian Cromastey, 30, and Rodney Albert Kirton, 25, died after opening fire on each other inside Johnny G's, a popular late-night restaurant and pub on Main Street, around 1:30 a.m. CT Wednesday.

The investigation has determined the deceased males died as a result of simultaneous gunshots to each other," said a Winnipeg police spokesperson, Const. Rob Carver, on Friday.

Carver said both handguns have been recovered.

Investigators used surveillance video and witness accounts to conclude guns were fired at the same time, said Carver.

"So the two individuals were basically in a gunfight in a public restaurant and shot each other fatally on the spot," he said.

A simultaneous double homicide is "incredibly rare," Carver said. The police spokesperson said he was unaware of one ever happening in Canada before.

"We did a bit of research and it looks like it's happened in the [United] States once or twice, " he said.

What a great piece of timing on their part, to kill each other simultaneously and save the taxpayers a bunch of money. Such a happy ending. They probably took the same firearms safety courses together, went to the same range, shooting their legally registered firearms together....yeah. Sure they did.

Just when you start to loose your faith in gang members, they do the right thing. Now if all of them would go to the bush away from innocent people and do this, we could all respect their brotherhood. I wonder if they where good guys just trying to turn their lives around.

Perhaps some lawyers looking to defend them will be disappointed, but I can't imagine much beyond that.

I told my wife about the event and that it was kind of like a self-cleaning oven.

The sad part about this is that the Anti-gunners and the left-wing media will paste these two killers as statistics onto any & all graphs they have and they'll both be recorded as 'victims of gun violence'.

Now let’s translate that into costs per prisoner. According to federal data the average annual cost per prisoner in federal prisons is about $115,000. Higher security levels are more expensive. Costs for women prisoners are much higher.

$115,000 is nearly triple the yearly tuition cost at Harvard (about $45,000 US per year in 2015).

The amount spent per prisoner compares to average income in Canada of about $70,000 per household in 2015; $27.000 for an unattached individual; and $39,000 for a female single parent. According to Workopolis, the average wage in Canada in 2017 was about $50,000.

The average annual cost per prisoner in provincial jails in 2011-12 was about $67,000. Financial facts on Canadian prisons. The John Howard Society of Canada

Could we start a 'Quick and The Dead" program for gangbangers?

You think that’s bad.

Had one survived and had to be hospitalized, the bill alone for that would make you weep.
