New hunting rig
New to the cabinet, browning blr black label takedown, with the picatinny gizmos stripped off. Topped with leupold vxr 1-4. Will see main duty as my hunting rig this year, unless she doesn't shoot. Just mounted the scope today and haven't gotten around to targets yet. Will have to wait and see... IMG_5042.jpg

Nice. I've got my eye on a friends minty mint Blr 257 bob. I'm sure the price would be at a premium, but how many of those have you seen kicking around?

Nice! Now that's a deer rifle I could love. I especially like that you didn't over glass it... I've seen lots of guys with scopes that start at your max power on similar rifles... just plain goofy IMO.

I agree. 4 power easily gets me to 350-400 on big game. More I don't need

Couldn't agree more, and I find that with less magnification I feel a lot more solid on a free hand shot. High power scopes are great off of a bench, but when things feel a bit squirrely and I've got a bunch of magnification amplifying this effect I sometimes end up fighting myself to tame the wobbles. Not that I cant kill a deer offhand with a scope cranked up to 10x, but with a scope that goes down to 1-2.5x I don't get this effect and shoot with less fooling around and more confidence.
Since this type of shot makes up about 95% of the shots I take in the field, I feel having a scope that caters to this type of shooting makes a lot more sense on a hunting rifle than a scope that is good at punching little groups at long ranges off of a bench.
Anyways, nice gun.

The rifle will shoot, shooter might be the reason it misses
Kidding, nice rig, hope she works out for you.
