Default Cooper Model 38

I was browsing thru the Cooper website and noticed that the Model 38 was not on their website. An email to Cooper confirmed that the Model 38 is no longer available. I am a little surprised they dropped it. Wonder if this was due to poor sales or something else? I have one in a KHornet and was looking at getting another M38.

Single shot bolt action rifle with an action so short it only accommodate 218 Bee and shorter cartridges. I can see why it wouldn't have enough sales to warrant keeping it.

The Cooper site still lists the model 38 in some models like the varmint.

Cooper doesn't do a great job on their website. I have seen it posted on another small caliber site that one of the members called Cooper and the 38 is not in current production. He did not say if you could still custom order one or not.

This is the message I got from Cooper. This is unfortunate as nobody else (unless custom) produces a "high end" single shot in the Model 38 calibers.

Do you still make the Model 38? I no longer see it in your pricing lists. Thanks, Ken

They have been using the model 21 for some cartridges that used to be chambered in the model 38, perhaps they are using the model 21 for all of the short action cartridges now? I have a model 38 in 17 Hornet, and although it is a nice action, I had to resort to a rail to mount my scope on this rifle, where the same scope offered several mounting options on my 17Fireball in a model 21.

There I fixed it for you!
I was extremely happy to order a 92 Back Country LH last year. Only to be drug along the "Its not ready yet" train by Laura Kelly.
Here we are 6 months late and no sign of being done soon.
This will be my last Cooper, no matter how well it shoots. If you cant deliver on your promise, I cant commit 4K to you.
On a positive note the LH Christensen I ordered was built in +/- 6 weeks and ready for shipping to Canada right away.
