Default Remote controlled helicopter info needed

Is anyone aware of a remote controlled helicopter, quadricopter, etc available in Canada, that has enough lift to strap a GoPro to its underside?

Ive been looking but nothing yet

Might want to consider a quadcopter, or hexacopter. More stable IMO, and much easier to control.

Call great hobbies in Edmonton and talk to those guys about the newest, latest, greatest. They are current and know what they are doing.

Depending on what you want it for, here are some ideas. All types of crafts and cameras.

I have what some refer to as a drone. Let me know if I can help with info.

We have an AO member with one of those units. Really neat pictures from Banff were posted.

When are they going to be banning them from the public? Just watch. Public Safety you know.

The two main beginner quadcopters that will be ready to fly are the Walkera and Dj Phantom. You can get both with return to home, flight stabilization, and GPS.

You can buy the Phantom locally at most hobby stores( I seen one today PM hobbycraft here in Calgary).

The Walkera you can get online all over..

Unless your an expert I'd stay away from helicopters and go with a quadcopter. The versions of quadcopter these day can fly and land themselves.

If I had to choose between these two I'd go with the Walkera QR x350 as it is a little more advanced. One great function is when your flying you can hit a button on the remote and it will land itself exactly where you lifted off hands free.

Do go pros require downloading data from them for viewing or can they transmit live?

You can download and you can also transmit live(FPV) at the same time with the go pro with the right connections. I have a FatShark video headset goggle that gives you the feeling of flying . I can also feed a live video to a lcd screen on my controller.

So many options these days, I'll remind you guys this is a hobby and can be time consuming, frustrating, but it can also be very rewarding.

I got my Phantom 2 Vision from multirotorheli.ca. If you have. GoPro 3, I would recommend the Phantom Vision with gimbal.
http://www.multirotorheli.ca/collect...d-gopro-gimbal
If you have a GoPro 2, the older Phantom would allow you to attach it stationary.
The flight times for the Phantom 2 models should be around 20 minutes. There are some supply issues right now because of corporate infighting/court injunction. B & H out of New York may be worth looking at, as they get their Phantoms directly from China, I beleive. Head on over to phantompilots.com forum!
The technology of these craft is changing daily, and with input from users around the world putting their ideas together, and using 3D printers, it's just amazing what can be done with these. Also check out flyingcameras.ca and canadadrone.ca.
