Default Elk Success!!

Just got back from our annual Elk trip and had great success. Myself, Kannon, and my other 2 buddies left last Sunday and came back Friday. We took 1 very large cow and a nice 6pt bull. This bull was my buddies first Elk and I was extremely happy that I was there when he took it. He has come up with us the last 3 years and finally took one home As one of my friends said "Non hunters just don't get it. It is not the killing part that draws all of us to this passion, it is all the experiences that happen during the trip that make us keep coming back. Taking an animal home is just the icing on the cake." Being able to share the experience of my friends first Elk is exactly what we were talking about.

Will post pics later.

Here is a couple of pics of our Elk.
The bull pic was after we got home because didn't have camera with us at the time (not quite the best pic, but at least we had someone else to take it so I could be in the Bull pic with the boys)...Hope you enjoy!

bruceba, you are absolutely right.

The picture was a while after the cow was taken, so the clip was out and the gun was emptied. That being said, the bolt should ABSOLUTELY been open as there is many instances where a gun was suppose to be empty and accidents occur. We were caught up in the momment of getting a good pic and the rifle bolt was missed. I am very careful with my rifles, but it just goes to show that no matter HOW careful you are, things could happen.

bruceba, are you a safety consultant in your real world job??? When I see a pic of a successful hunt with happy hunters and their game and gun I think "right on" not "why is that bolt not open when it seems to be pointing at the hunters." What ever.
