Smile Hi I'm new here

Hi my name is Dave and I'm in Lethbridge County AB area.

In my 40's now and just started getting serious about big game hunting.
My father is 65 but get's around pretty good and we are reconnecting after a long time. He is an experienced hunter but durring our disconnect he had retired and sold all but a couple rifles that I now have.

They are older rifles. A Winchester model 100 in .308 and a Savage 99 in .250. The savage is the internal rotary magazine type.

Last year we scrambled to go on our first real big game hunt ever. With little planning we did have a few opportunities but came up empty. I have only been living in AB for one year now so I don't have many spots to go to.

Those are the only two rifles I have that are worth hunting with. The rest I have are pistols and plinkers although I do have a Beretta 1301 Tactical with changeable chokes and a 3" chamber that is rated for magnum.

I have a two wheel 1500.

If anyone want's to connect that would be cool. Shooting is fun. Gofers gotta die.

I also like to fish. I can head out for trout and the like but might need a tune up for around here.

Your well armed. That 250/3000 is a awesome gun. 308 is enough for anything if you can shoot straight. Welcome to the forum.
You can buy maps from MD that show you who owns what land. I would drive around and door knock for permission if you see gophers or with deer if you see abandoned farm yards, trees for cover or a water source. Haystacks tore up by deer, etc.
Be careful door knocking. Everybody nervous about being robbed. Go right to main house and not walking around farm yards hoping to find someone.
Tell them who you are and where you live.

Sandy: I want you to kill every gopher on the course!
Carl Spackler: Check me if I'm wrong Sandy, but if I kill all the golfers, they're gonna lock me up and throw away the key...
Sandy: Gophers, ya great git! Not golfers! The little brown furry rodents!
Carl Spackler: We can do that... we don't even have to have a reason.

Welcome.

I’ve met a number of anglers over the years who fish many southern lakes out of the Lethbridge area. Should be able to meet folks.
