Default Savage Axis trigger work

Just watched this video. Wondering what your guys thoughts on it was. Looks easy enough but I'm wondering about the safety of the rifle with a loaded round. Will this mod affect the overall safety if the rifle is dropped or bumped while loaded? If not this might be a nice mod to try. Don't want to do it if it is going to compensate safety though.

I took 2.5 coils off my 243 axis last night. I loaded it and torture tested it after that. Banged the butt on the floor a few times and slammed it in to my leg along the side of the stock. The trigger did not fail. It also pulls way easier and smoother with the mod done.

Simple really, if your going to dive in a cut 2.5 coils off right at once your asking for trouble.
Take half a coil at a time, re assemble, and do a function test, which includes a bump, fast cycle, etc, to see if things will go south, once you prove that out, cut the next half a coil, and repeat.

This is the process I used Dick. I should have mentioned that for safety reasons.

I personally wasnt happy with that method. I replaced the spring with a spring from a ballpoint pen and worked beautifully.

Caution though, any time you personally modify, you run a risk

Hopefully you cocked it not loaded it for the testing process.

I'd be afraid that the pen spring is not made to the same quality standards as the original spring. There are shops that you can buy quality springs at, and if I were to change out the spring, I would take this route before I robbed one from my bic.

After everyone gets finished altering their trigers, and then selling the guns to unsuspecting buyers, who willl be held responsible when a terrible acident happens.
The first UTube vid I saw showed cutting 1 coil, now we hear of 2, and 2 1/2 coils. Pixel has upgraded his with a Bic Pen spring.
At some point something bad will happen and no doubt the first one blamed will be Savage. Ultimately I think any good investigation will show tampering and negligance, and someone will pay dearly.

That is why on bill of sale you protect yourself with proper verbiage...

as is where is... etc.

I have modified triggers myself to get a better pull in a few different ways...

Remington 788's were notorious for their improper safety causing problems if you flicked safey off of mine if you had placed pressure on trigger at any time while safety was on.... Blamo...

So I removed the safety altogether... problem solved... only chambered round when it was time to fire...

Too mahy people looking for lawsuits where there really is non if you use proper diligence... and common sense... if you make trigger so an ant farting a 100 yards away or a hard wish sets it off and I sell it I only have to make sure bill of sale states as is where is....

And if you follow four rules of basic firearm safety there should be no issues anyways...

I always thought that "buyer beware" applied to buying/selling but I suppose that a full disclosure when selling would be prudent.
