Default Couldn’t pass it up…

Walked up on a Ruger no 1 in 25-06 on the consignment rack at proline shooters today. Price too good to pass up. Serial number looks like 1977 manufactured. Bore and stock in great shape.

Nice! Congrats. I’ve been in the hunt for a Ruger No. 1 for years now. You got lucky!

GORGEOUS RIFLE!
If it were me, I would be sending it to Paul Cook at PR Precision and get him to rebarrel it with a half octagon/ half round in his awesome .308 British!
That way you have the class of a rimmed cartridge, the awesomeness of the barrel contour, and the advantage of the .762 bullet choices!
There, you can thank me later!

46 years old and an absolute beauty. A rifle that was well taken care of.

In march I got one in a heavy barrel at an auction, paid 1900.00 and also got one later in an auction in 270 and paid 2300.00, always liked the no1.

Heheh I had a feeling you might recommend the .303

I can’t have a copycat CAT rifle though! Either way, she’ll probably live in the safe until early next year when I’ll be able to enjoy her. Moose is around the corner and I’ve got a 35 Whelen that needs some love…

I am not sure but I believe that Paul's .308 British has a blown out case body with the .308 neck.
That would be awesome for sure!

It wouldn't be a copycat, as mine is in standard. 303 Brit, and on a #3 action!

Oh yeah, it's a thing alright!
The .30/303 wildcat is one that Bill Leeper uses in fact .

However , I have a lifetime supply of 150 grain, 311 Barnes TSX bullets for my standard chamber, and this is a killing machine in my rifle!

Default Gorgeous stock

That's a gorgeous stock, IMO.
I don't think we see walnut like that on "production" guns anymore.
Well done. Best of luck with it.
