Boat outboard motor question
Hi,
I own 10ft fibreglass boat and I want to put an outboard motor. I'm not looking to turn this into a speed boat just something faster than a trolling motor so I can go upstream or going against the wind when im fishing.
The boat weighs about 100lb, and max load is 450lb.
How many HP would I need? Thanks.

Check for an info plate on the boat, the info you have given I would say 6hp max.

5hp or 4hp not any bigger, if you go to fast when you slow down you will swamp your boat, so less weight at the back the better.6hp max.

An older 8 hp - 2 stroke would be a perfect match for that boat.

Look into putting on a throttle handle extension and sit in the middle. Less weight at the back and get a long fuel line and put the fuel tank in the front. Then do an 8 hp tops

Not to hijack this thread, but I also have a motor question, and hate unnecessary threads, soooooo............
We're closing in on buying a new Alumacraft. There's a 165 Classic that lists 60 as the max HP but comes with a 50 Yammy. There's also a 175 Voyageur that lists 75 as the max HP but comes with a 60 Yammy. I'm wondering if those are enough for the boat, or if I should upgrade the motors and max out the HP.
Any thoughts fellas? Thanks in advance!

And to bring it and "you" back on topic, don't forget to put a 6hp to 8hp kicker on it
