Default Dead geese found abandoned

Someone else making the hunting community look bad.
http://calgary.ctvnews.ca/investigat...aber-1.3671136

I hope they catch the person responsible.
Alberta Fish and Wildlife Enforcement officers are investigating after the remains of 96 geese were found beside a field north of Taber earlier this week.

Lethbridge officers found the remains of 85 Canada geese and five snow geese lined up along the side of the road, about 18 kilometers north of the town on Tuesday.

Officials say the birds were found partially or entirely buried in the snow on the side of Township Road 112 and Range Road 161.

Some of the meat had been taken from 24 of the birds but the rest were left untouched.

Fish and Wildlife officials say it is an offence under the Wildlife Act to abandon the edible flesh of game species.

Anyone with information about the case is being asked to contact Fish and Wildlife by calling the Report A Poacher line at 1-800-642-3800 or online HERE.

who had clients in for a shoot that flew home with no birds or only a little meat after a 3 or 4 day shoot in that area. A possession 3 day limit for 3 shooters and dumped so they could shoot another morning.

I was thinking it, but didn't say it.

No doubt about it. What a shame. Gives us all a black eye.

Are you talking about the birds or the skin that it took to make the person responsible! I can’t believe someone would go through the effort of shooting then collecting them then dump them?

The people responsible need to be found and charged. This is outrageous.

Which bird outfitter operates in or near that area? Would be the obvious first point of contact for F&W. It's not like it hasn't ever happened before, and led to convictions.

that boils my blood. It's not that hard to count to 8. Even if you have a few guys shooting it's important to know the count.

But this isn't a case of not counting correctly. This is a case of serious disrespect to wildlife and fellow outdoorsmen.

I spent 20 years in southern Alberta. I know of more poaching/fishing infractions come from them then anyone else.

You spent much time in the Taber/Vauxhall/enchant/Hays/grassy area??

No??? Then you probably have no idea what it's like.

Not saying they're all doing this, but in my opinion - there's a lot of bad apples coming from there.

Not that area, but being a Mennonite background myself and knowing a ton of them in the northern AB and SK areas I find this kind of blanket statement pretty ridiculous. WWBirds gave the most likely culprit in his earlier post.

All the mennonites I know would have used every last usable piece of those birds, almost to a fault.
