To find the big ones, one must go deep. Also must go North
My hummingbird crapped out on me while out there this weekend. Fortunately I had my POS marcum that worked like a charm.

Best bait so far has been a forage minnow with the tail of a tiny fluke.

I wasn't expecting the lake you were at. Just wondering where in alberta you were close to. I'm near G.P. but the ice is not ready here yet, i can't wait until it is though. Then it will be Perch slaying time.

I would say nope. Not gonna give specifics, but it's a tiny, tiny lake.
About 5-6 hrs east of you, unless thats where you go to get perch. I do know some lakes near your way that hold big perch.

Beauty perch.
Easily my favorite fish to chase during the winter.
What happened to the humminbird? Bad battery or worse?

I'm thinking it's the transducer. I just ordered a new one. So I'm stuck with the VX-1 for a while.

This year, last season. Ice is not thick enough here yet, at least not to my knowledge.

Do you realise how much heat you need to produce to melt the ice? Also heat rises and only 1 burner going. -30 this past weekend, would you not want to run a heater?
