Default WMU 306 Mule Deer. Mountains, Foothills or Flats?

Hey Everyone,
I'm pulling a high priority antlered mule deer tag in WMU 306 (at least 99% percent sure, way over needed priority) and I'm wrestling with whether to focus up high, the foothills on the north side of the zone or down in the farmland. I'm not looking for honey holes but would love some pointers from guys who know the zone.

For all you "get out and scout" guys, the zone is 5+ hrs away and my time off & budget is very limited so sadly no pre-trip will be doable.

Either way, it will be a great week of camping & hunting, regardless of what is harvested. :-)

PM's appreciated.

My biggest concern about the WMU, and I haven't hunted it for quite a few years, would be getting permission to hunt.

There's a fair bit of lease land and Crown Land on the west and north side of the zone, but you're right, it is a challenging zone to get permission!

One of the few zones where landowners really cover their milt landowner tags.

Good luck making connections.

With the increase in tags you will have some competition. You better be out there early on day one, lots of deer bucks and does will hit the ground right at legal light.

I should draw a tag this year, for sure I will try and have a target buck located and get him early if things work out.

Good luck on your buck.
