Macvinnie pond can be walked around in about 20 min, stocked, hvy fished. There are in that pond two huge trout,at about an hour before dark,at point blank range a 15-20 pounder made a hard rise,at about the same time another rise in the middle of the pond. This was as of last week.In the area, want a life time trophy,a fun pond at the very lease, you can bring home 5 for the pan.

i believe the current Alberta record rainbow is from this lake. stocking records indicate that the large fish have grown from 17 to 20 cm to what they are now.

Well, this will certainly be overpopulated by fishermen for the next little while. Social media has been the worst thing for good fishing spots for a long time.

tough to fish unless you have pontoon or tube, hard to cast from shore. Have to carry in any type of boat so it keeps a lot of anglers away.

Some elite fly fishers are quite proficient at trolling without leaving the shore!

This pond is in the middle of bald prairie, surrounded by a dyke,about150ft from the parking lot. Nothing to hang your fly on.

Its over populated now--The survivors have most likely being hook *****ed,Many people go home empty handed. They still feed, and rise it takes a skilled angler to take trout. The big boys are riseing, which means they can be caught--There in is the challenge--It does the heart good to see a 15 plus lb trout rise after a may fly 30 ft in front of your nose.Welcome to AB I think everybody liveing here has a fishing rod.

Exactly,Last week I took 5 home for the pan, with the usual gang on hand--A 12ft leader with a 3lb tippet,A size 18 black dry fly got the job done, about a half hour before dark----They can be caught it just a matte of how--

This is AB,all stocked ponds south of calgary, are bowls, just a matter of how big---some escapee grow big--the 20 incher I caught in payne lake last week--among the crowd--on very light tackle was super fun.before the winter kill at police outpost it was not uncommon to let go 30or 40 big rainbow in a day, that was a lot of fun in a big bowl.

I did notice one difference this year from other years-the huge schools of minnows are gone--This could make a difference, those big trout need lots to eat.

The life span of the average stockee,is not a long one--humans,pelicans,osprey, pike--Those big boys are true survivors.
