Thumbs up Anyone looking for jumbo perch?

I saw this video and just could not help but post it! My mouth instantly began to water while watching it!! I hope this at least gives us all something to shoot for on the hard water tomorrow wherever we are!! I guess I now need to convince the wife that Siberia may be a beautiful vacation spot!

They are called Zander, a relative of a perch, they are imported and the fillets are sold in North American markets, usually passed off as native yellow perch. Still very nice.

I did some research and I don't think they are Zander(see link below). They are European Perch which have been known to get up to 3 kg in Sweden and Finland.

Default Siberia Perch

I spent 4 yrs working on the rigs over in Siberia.
We spent alot of time fishing the last 2 yrs we were there when we had a full Russian crew on the rig.
Caught lots of Perch over there but nothing like those ones, we would get the odd nice one. We kept the Russian guys on our crew fed pretty good.
We did catch a few nice Pike as well.
Kind of an enviormental disaster over there, with pipeline breaks and spills. Some of the lakes you couldn't fish on the down wind side cause of the Oil slick on them.

those were huge fish! You gotta try fishing lake simcoe in Ont. I used to fish it all the time and catch some real monster perch. You could legally keep 50 fish a day, I only did that once it was hell cleaning all those then my old mans 50 fish.
