This isn't per chance the same guy that shot the 400 lb. Whitetail? Something fishy here. Wolf's eyes are about as big as the holder's hands.

Not 100% confirmed yet, but looks more and more like it's true. Power snared. Guy who caught it has so far refused media interviews.
I do agree that it looks too big

Being that I grew up 20km away from the location of the wolf that was trapped I have spoke with several locals that had their picture taken with the wolf. Jeez they even had their kids pose with the thing. It was a very big old wolf that devoured pets, and livestock for years.
The region is similar to the Hay Lakes area with a lot of small acreages for that "country living" and people assumed their were not wolves in the area. WRONG

Large wolf
A friend of mine helped a young trapper in the Wandering river area snare wolves last winter. They got one that was pushing 200 pounds. I have pictures somewhere but it was a monster. PS No relationship to my handle.

Photoshop or not it's one less wolf roaming the country side.

Big Wolves!
Wolves do get to the 200 lb range but its rare! The largest I have seen was snared in the G.P. area at an elk farm and weighed in at 206lbs!Having taken quite a few in the past, most were in the 100-120 lb range, the largest being 170lb. But take into consideration a wolf will consume 30+ lbs in a meal so a 140lber soon becomes 170lbs after he eats?
good hunting - how's the wolf hunting going this winter?
