Default Exploding pea gravel

Should I worry about pea gravel exploding if touching up against a crushing cone fire pit when she’s good and hot? Anyone have experience with this? Good or bad?

Its moisture in the rocks that causes them to explode. Once the firepit has heated up and dried out the area the problem should be solved.

The only good part about exploding rocks in campfires is that they are red hot shards so they self cauterize the wound they create.
