Default 6.5-06 vs 6.5-270 vs 6.5-284

I have inherited a Winchester model 70? 30-06 from my father in law and I really want to turn it into a flat shooting WT gun. I have a 7mm already and just dont love 30-06 guns. Just curious what everyone's thoughts are? Costs? I think new barrel will be $600 (guy in Red Deer?) but what about gunsmith charges? Thanks all.

If it's a pre 64 and barrel in good shape leave it alone or sell it to me. Does it take a stripper clip? Some early ones did.

What’s the difference between a 6.5-06 and a 6.5-270?

My flat shooting WT rifle’s are chambered in 25-06 Rem.
One shines with 100gr Sierras and the other likes to be fed 110 - 120gr deer droppers.
I never considered a 6.5- 25/06 though

This, or leave it just as it is and enjoy.

The neck on a 270 is longer than on a 30-06. 25-06 is same neck length or overall length as a 30-06
