Any good spots to fish on the North Saskatchewan River?
So on the weekend I am going to go fish and its my first time fishing, I know how to cast and the basics, but I don't know where to fish. The water levels on the NSR has dropped down a bit as it only rained a couple of times, but I am just wondering what are good spots to fish and all that around the Edmonton Area. I only heard of Whitemud Creek and Terwillegar Park thats it, but I am looking for more places to fish, but not near the oil refineries as you know the mercury and all that. Can you guys tell me any good spots to fish?

River is too high right now, wait a bit for it to come down to fishable levels again.

any outfall or decently deep back eddy is on fire right now. definitely "fishable"
just look for a slower section and the fish are stacked.

By the chance, is there still fish at the Whitemud Creek mouth at this time of month as well?

Fish use the whole river all year long. Creek mouths and back eddies usually hold a fish or two any given month of the year.
Even though the water is high fish still bite too. You just have to find the eddies or where clear creek water is entering the river. Right where the dirty river water and the clear creek water mingle is a fish hotspot. Actually, fish travel more when the water is off color and high.

NSR (North Saskatchewan River)
Just have to repeat what a few others have already said. There's no bad spots, just get out & go. Usually Back-Eddies / Cement Water Outlets are quite good, but I've also done well at spots that didn't look promising at all - so if you have the time, check out new spots - that's half the fun. For me I love walking down the bank or along the trails to find a secluded spot. Prop your rod up, sit down, relax, enjoy the peace/quiet/scenery of the NSR & hopefully tangle with a fish or two

I find if you can just off a shelf ( where the water goes from 3" to 3' in a few feet is good. Caught my personal best pike this year and many others fishing there.

If you bait fish you can catch them almost anywhere on the NSR.
You have too read the water as some on here have said if you dont use bait though.

I caught lots using bait but mostly walleye when baiting. On day in about 2hrs I caught 20 or so walleye but no pike.

When I lived in Fort Sask, I went to the boating dock neat West River Pavilion.
Caught couple of walleyes there for the season. Not a bad spot.
