Default Wasp nest wadding

Yesterday while doing some cleaning up at the lake I slid open the top of the box I keep my scaffold clamps in and was meant by an angry squadron of yellow jackets!
I took several hits before getting out of the area, and went back in lSt night after dark and spayed the big nest with raid , then again this morning .
Thus is actually a good thing for me as I now have a good quantity of wasp nest to use for wadding in my muzzleoaders this fall!
It works very well, and is fire resistant as well so helps to keep impromptu fires down while shooting , something card and cloth wads ate probe to do!

I’ve never heard or seen any body used wasp nest. Learned some thing new today. Do you only use wasp nest or do you use hornet nests to?

I had a little bag of wasp nest to try but I never got around to it.
Cat, it’s easier to collect that stuff in January 🤪

I suppose, the only ones I have used were from yellow jackets , not sure if they are considered a wasp or a Hornet - I consider them all on my hit list!

Calgarychef, yes, absutely, but I needed to use the box! LOL

Yellowjackets and Bald-faced hornets are both actually wasps. There are no true 'hornets' in North America (except for those few, invasive 'Murder hornets' we had last year).

Although our common use names use 'hornet', they are simply wasps. Same as our Jackrabbits aren't actually rabbits at all - they're hares. Different family altogether.

Pretty cool use of wasp nest 'paper' though!
