Post Shotgun slugs...are all chokes the same?

Is it possible to shoot slugs through an improved cylinder choke?

The factory slugs are sized to work in full choke barrels. Shouldn't be a problem, may not be as accurate as a full choke. Different brands, weight, style all work differently in different barrels/chokes.

Stay away from the true ball deep penetrator slugs, they have a marble jammed in the back of the slug.

IC is an excellent choice for all factory slugs, Breneke or Foster style .
You should shoot the gun with the slugs you want to use however tonsee how it groups, same as sighting in and checking the ammunition in a rifle,

I have been told that slugs and steel shot should only been fired in IMP CYL CHOKES , or at least modified is that wrong ? Im agreeing with cat on this one .

The thing about tight chokes and Foster style slugs us that the slugs are designed to swedge down in a choked bore.
Some Breneke Style slugs or ones with sabots need a more open choke however .
Steel on the other hand needs a fairly open choke because the shot does not deform or swedge down .
I stay way from guns marked " full" unless the choke is steel approved ? Then the construction will be proper for steel.

That nay sound confusing but it us because one company's construction for a particular choke could be tighter than another's even though they both build guns rated "full"
