Default Edmonton girl found (was abducted)

Not sure if we are allowed to post this stuff anymore. If not apologies. Good work by police.

Made my day! Not many of these stories have happy endings! Well done to all those involved in her rescue!

That would be the big question that needs answering. Even parents can have a tough time with minors.

Thank God they found her! Like many others here, I sure would like to know how he got her across the border.

My wife said wouldn't it be nice to have five minutes alone with him? My response was: I wouldn't even need that much time.

Regardless, this is good news for the family and I can't imagine the amount of relief they must feel. Her sister was on the news a few days ago and it was heartbreaking.

Not an abduction. Lured by an adult on the Internet and willingly ran away.

Yup it doesn’t make the 41year old any better but it does show there is issues with the kid that need to be addressed too

As a father of a teen daughter I hope I never have to deal with this

It's good that she was found and that her parents are headed there to pick her up, BUT this does raise more than one question that needs to be answered, not sure we will ever know the story as she is a minor

Young girls are very susceptible to manipulation by adults especially if they they lack self confidence or are bullied at school. In my years of teaching I saw this happen to several young girls from caring homes. The perps are not obvious to identify and the friggin internet is a cesspool of such characters.

"Canadians should know that Mr. Madrano faces much more serious music in the United States, in Oregon, than he will ever face in a Canadian court if he ever makes it here," said Ari Goldkind, a criminal defence lawyer.

"Even if he's convicted of child luring, which is the one charge currently here, where he may get two, three, four years in jail, maybe less. In the United States, he's looking at probably well over 10 to 20 years just on the charges he faces there.""

Our legal system almost never fails to disappoint.

The creep is an American citizen and he now has the additional charges of rape and kidnapping. He can rot in a US prison.

He can be tried & convicted for his crime of luring that was committed here, as well as if he raped her on this side of the border. Then once his sentence is up they can have him & charge him for what happened on the US side of the border. They were separate crimes never mind the separate jurisdictions, so double-jeopardy shouldn't be a thing.

Maybe he told the US border guards that she was a Democrat?

I'm sure glad they caught the guy. Sure raises a lot of questions - I hope the perp gets his due, and that she gets her life turned around.

Kudos to all the law enforcement personnel who were involved in the rescue.

What age should children be able to have a smart phone? I say, not until they can pay for with their own money

This, except that it seems from the reporting she was raped. I wish her and her family nothing but the best as they seek healing for their daughter. Thankfully, she’s alive.

I hope the perp is killed though.

From the start one thing made me go hmmm, if you ever took your kids to school, you don't get off a bus and get abducted without someone seeing it. Buses usually drop off in a zone with lots of other kids. So my thought was she walked away on her own, maybe to run away, maybe to meet someone. Sounds like she did and went to meet this scumbag.

As most are asking, how did she get across the border unless he had her hidden in a secret compartment. Never would have guessed she would have been found in the U.S. though. This will be one for the books. Hopefully the trial spells everything out, the how and why.

So glad she was found alive. I can't imagine what the parents and families went through for a week. Every parents nightmare. Who knows if she would have been murdered and left somewhere and no one would ever know who the jane doe was or if he would have kept her locked up. She has a tough road of healing ahead but at least she came home.

Glad the scumbag will be tried in the states too. Should see a much stiffer sentence and one can hope for some prison justice.

It's amusing that u guys think it's that hard to get across the border. I've driven across by accident in SE Sask. Only reason I knew I crossed the border was the speed signs changed. Turned around, got my ass back in Canada. There was no other indication I had crossed into the US. That was 4 years ago. Every "border crossing" is not blocked or controlled.

If she was brainwashed by the perv, he might have convinced her to cross in the trunk of the vehicle… Not every car is searched either…
