Thumbs up Weatherby Mark V Varmintmaster ,224 Wby Mag

Well I feel like a Pretty lucky guy today!

Last night my dad bought me a mint condition 224 wby mag for the collection. The firearm was built in the 1960's in Japan and is unfired. It's got a 26" barrel and a french walnut stock. The pictures of the rifle dont do it any justice on how nice it really is.I'll try to take some better photos later.

I Already bought Some 40 grain nosler bullets for the rifle, but still have to choose a scope. Not only do I want to thank my dad,but aswell thank the guy(Gary) he bought it off of for such a great deal! This firearm will remain with my family for many years!

The 224 wby is a rare cartridge mosly because of brass price, rifle price and the 220 swift& 22-250 are faster velocity cartridges.

does anyone on here have any experience loading the 224 wby mag? any good powder\bullet combo's???

Thanks again Dad!

While I have never loaded for one, I have always had a crush on the cartridge. Nice rifle, awesome present.

Ohhhh Dat's a keepa!

Some rifles are meant to be shot....some admired.....some admired and shot and then admired more

I would suggest Varget as a powder....not sure starting load but if I could guess it would be around 32-33 grains....best guess though so don't use it without research.

If your Dad finds any good stuff left hand in his travels drop me a PM!

You're killing me Junkie, first the beautiful 270 Lazermark and now a find like this! I knew a fellow that had one and even shot it a time or two. Awesome little round. Dad sure made some brownie points with that find!

Yes I am going to shoot it and want to kill at least one coyote with it someday.however.Ill be carefull with this firearm because they are abit on the rare side.

Dad was Fortunate to only pay a fraction of what this rifle is worth.I know that I could sell it today for twice the price dad payed for it however that aint ever going to happen!..she's locked in the vault now! I never thought id have a 224wby!
