Old cap and ball Belgian duelling pistols
Hello all
Recently I inherited a set of Duelling pistols from my Dad, they go back to his Fathers, Father.
That is really all the info my Dad had on them, with the assistance of our friend Google, I was able to figure out that they are Belgian 1811-1893 era.
Not really sure of much else I figure they are .40 cal. Vernier calipers measure .43
Not sure if anyone could share any more info on them, would be pretty cool.
I will add some photos shortly
Thanks
V

I don't think they are dueling pistols, they look more like vest pocket pistols.
Every set of dueling pistols I have ever seen were far more ornate, and large, and perfectly matched.
I have owned several vest pocket pistols over the years and still have one, and these look more like a vest pocket type to me than duelers - not that it matters, they are family heirlooms and very cool to boot!

Duelling is about ceremony between well heeled individuals, they don't look the part.

I do appreciate all info!
Like I said I was just going off the very limited info from my dad, that they were his granddads he called them duelling pistols. Next was if I wanted them, if not how he should dispose of them.
I clearly said yes lol.
Would anyone know of a place to get them checked out to see if they are still safe to shoot?
As I did just pick up a new to me .50 cal Hawkens style rifle it would be neat to get out with them.
