For sure, warning shots don't always work either.
Last time I had that situation, the grizz seemed unfazed as I fired warning shot after warning shot.
Eventually I ran out of arrows and ended my hunt early.

In all seriousness it will be nice to read the final outcome to this encounter.

The only people that know the actual story, were those present when it happened, any final outcome that you read, may, or may not be what actually happened.

And even then it can get confusing and mixed up.
Just glad he is ok!

You were using wrong kind of arrows! Should have used ones that Rambo used when he was fighting in Afghanistan against Russians! One would be enough….

Feeding and grazing grizzly bears at Close range are a hair raising and amazing experience I’m sure, but a grizzly bear knowing you’re there and running towards you is a different deal. I would also say having a firearm would give me some level of confidence. A bow and arrow is not a great short range weapon. Very little stopping power. I’m not sure I would even have bothered drawing my bow.

Certainly getting lots of media coverage. Maybe they'll make a movie so we can all see what really happened.

This was not an attack.
This was an encounter.
I think too many on here are plain scared sh$$less of bears and should stay home for their own safety.

lol
I was full on charged by a grizz up in northern BC once. Covered that 60 ish yards pretty quick. No calling, no cubs. Never had a gun as I was working but as luck would have it the bear turned a few small steps from me. If I would have had a gun in hand I would have done my best to kill it, no questions asked. Next charge the person may not be so lucky. You may be okay in hoping it turns into just an encounter...I'm not. I prefer to stay on the right side of the dirt so I can spend my time reading dumb comments on the internet
And yeah, I spend lot's of time in bear country. Heck, just gotta walk 350 yds from my house and I'm in it

Too bad he’s not a RCMP or something, then you’d be kissing his feet.
He’s just a kid. One who kept his composure in a pretty hairy situation.

Any Grizzly bear within eye sight can be a risk. The closer they are, the higher the risk.
8 yards is a huge risk. One that most sane people wouldn't take odds on.
Glad that the hunter lived and the bear died.
God knows there's no shortage of the ornery buggers.
