I have used Federal Fusion on both Elk and Moose. Moose was at about 50 yards, 30-06 in 180 grain. Moose dropped like a sheet of plywood on the spot.
Elk was shot with 7mm Rem Mag in 175 grain at about 10 yards. The 7mm Rem Mag bullet reacted like a hand grenade and I believe I was lucky to recovered the Elk at about 100 yards. Both shots were broadside lung shots with no shoulder hit.
I think the Fusion was not designed for as 10 yard hit with 7mm Rem Mag velocities.
