Most non' magnum big game rounds will generally not damage them much. Unless one's big game rifles are all magnums just grab your deer rifle and go, if not go get a sensible deer rifle and use that.
A buddy of mine just killed one that weighed 170lb, he was pretty happy to have had his 30-06 in hand rather than a varmint rifle, and the hide looks fine. All mine were killed with my .270 and they were fine as well.
