If hunting cartridges were judged by how long they had been around, or how many head of game they had killed, the round ball ahead of black powder would be the clear winner. Whether a cartridge has killed a million animals or one, doesn't effect how that cartridge will perform on game. I personally don't own a 30-06, and I likely never will, but that doesn't mean that I couldn't kill game with it , if I had to.
