Well, a couple of considerations are the effect on working people in the firearms/sporting goods/hunting/tourism industry. How many businesses will disappear, how much will simply go underground, and what will it cost to implement it and enforce it? Will firearms owners commit to mass non-compliance? The gov't truly has no clue how many firearms there really are in this country. Compensation to collectors and owners? How many police officers will they lose to it, due their not wanting to be forced into implementing what has to be done on their end. What kind of a regime will it create in this country? Forcible entry and confiscation?
Will a foreign national be able to bring an autoloading shotgun into the country to hunt birds, or an MR1 or a BAR to hunt big game, or a 10-22 to shoot gophers?? US citizens travelling to Alaska?
What will the effect on hunter numbers be? On the orgs like DU and CWTF and PF and etc.
What about the ammo, there are likely a billion rounds in this country.
And we have to get firearms owners of all stripes to participate, join the CCFR and CSSA and the NFA, I can spend that kind of money in one weekend on shotshells or even .22 shells.
And the calls and letters have to be made and sent to the Liberals and the Cons.
That is just a few quick ideas for consideration, I am sure others have more.
