Here's a slightly out of focus pic of my home made jaw jacker. It's just a piece of bent coat hanger with a leader attached to a cheap folding wire rod holder that I had laying around.

I can't believe how well this works! I get a near perfect hook set in the lip almost every time, even when the lure gets hammered hard by a pike. Very rarely are they hooked deep in the mouth.

It took a while to get the bends just right so that it works well. I built a few and one works better than the others and the bends are only slightly different.

I can change the length of the wire leader to increase or decrease the tension on the rod and get a harder or lighter hook set.
