Sometimes you have to pull the side plate, usually 3 small Phillips screws if I recall, and clean out the push rod and the gear on it and meeting it. Flush them out and re grease.
Inspect the gears and make sure none have lost teeth, and make sure the gears are still connected tightly in place.
