If you had a clue about what you are talking about I might take offense to your post but I will just put it down to your ignorance of the issue.
Perhaps if you researched a little you would may gain some knowledge.
Nothing has to be thrown out it can be treated quite successfully.
Anyone over 2 years old only has to be out of spray area 6 hour 8 is preferred for safety.
You said the landlord had it sprayed what else did you want him to do.
If your son did not ask the right question when applying for the unit it is his fault unfortunate as it is.
