Swaro and all optics manufacturers have to keep developing products, but not because of demand or product obsolescence. Contemporary R&D is more about marketing and trying to boondoggle you into believing "new is better." No one can convince me to trade in my STM 65, it does everything I need and more, and packs just fine.
