I've lived this ...

I had a GMC I had to lift 5" to get 33's on it so it would have enough clearance to get down some of those sloppy roads and crappy boat launches out in the sticks.

My current truck, a F150, has a simple 2.5" lift and I'm running 34" and getting more ground clearance.

There a couple options to get to where you want to go. I have just found the GMC/Chevs just to much like luxury low riders for how i use my truck - although the fit, finish and comfort of a GMC is second to none and I do miss that.
