The winchester 180 gr power point in 30-06 was extremely effective on moose, our hunting group used them for many years all over nfld. Of course it depends on the hunter waiting for the right shot, no pot shotters here. A moose hit through the lungs, will drop like a rag doll, at 500-600m no problem. In many cases the moose was dead as a door nail when we arrived at the drop site.
All the groups carried 30-06 and used this bullet, the idea being if it works why try something else.
