I have seen MASSIVE die offs at Pigeon, Lac La Nonne, Gull, etc. These whites were in an area of shallow water when the algae bloom consumed the oxygen levels to a point that the fish could not escape to deeper water.

Some years back at Ma Me O Beach, the County cleaned the beach of all the dead fish that had washed up. My recollection was that 9 dump trucks of dead, rotting, stinking fish were picked up by the crews. Then the wind picked up and blew in even more.
