For "standard" caliber, all around, I would go with 308. Don't need to defend the choice as it's performance speaks for itself. For "not so standard" I would choose 284 Win which I see as being like a 7mm Mag without the blemishes
. For "wildcat" I am convinced of the prowess of the 6.5 X 47L which is as tame as a kitten but bites like a Tasmaian Devil.
With great advances in bullet construction during the past ten years it is now possible to tear up the track with a hot rod running a 289 ... no need for the old muscle cars and their 454's.
