What if he reported the encounter right away? Only logical when a couple of turds try to ambush you with a firearm.

What if what if what if.... fact is for whatever reason be it fear Adrenalin or lack of cell service he didn’t report it until several hours later. We can always what if the actions of someone else when we weren’t there. Hindsight is always 20/20 and it won’t bring back those lost to demented kids!
