I don't hear of too many turbos going on these trucks - sounds like something unusual.
I think you should be able to do the repair yourself. A few manifold bolts might be a bit fussy, but with the low miles I think it'll be ok.
Something to think about - ford does offer upgraded (larger) turbos for these trucks that seem to make some more power. Might be a fun upgrade since you're spending the money.
