One of the 2 subsidiaries sold was the Q400 (Dash 8 Aircraft, see Westjet Encore and Air Canada Jazz) program which was sold to Longview Aviation Capital, AKA Viking Air. This sale will create hundreds of jobs in Calgary and in Victoria (specifically Sidney, HQ of Viking.) Bombardier is well known for going through waves of hiring, lay-offs and sell-offs, especially in aviation. No surprises there.... However, I see this as a huge positive for the aviation sector in Calgary and BC.
