Go for it....I thought about it for probably 10 years before I finally put one together. In about '02 or '03 a friend and I got 2 35 cal tubes from Bevan King. Made the mistake of ordering 700 magnum contours. IIRC they were 14" twist. They went on 700 actions , one LH, one RH. Mine at 24" would launch 225 Partitions at 2725 and shot very well. We expected more than the approx 8" of drop at 300 meters from a 200 yard zero. I had it in an HS sporter stock and it was probably 9 lbs scoped. Sold it a couple years later and started over with a Shilen in a smaller contour at 22". Also on a 700 but with a McMillan stock. Much lighter than the first one. Sold that one after a bit also. Went without a Whelen for a few years until 2012 when I had Bill Leeper put together another one on a 1949 Model 70 action with a 12" twist 23" Shilen in a McMillan Hunters Edge. I've managed to hang on to this one......

It's a classic old round. Try it, you might like it.
