Semi customs are so much fun. You have the perfect action to do this project. Get a kreiger barrel, if your in the Calgary area have Henry Remple chamber it for you. The other stuff like stocks and other upgrades can come.
I have a 308 and have a 6.5x47. I am able to hit with much higher frequency at longer distances with the 6.5 mm. Ballistics dont lie. The recoil is noticably different as well.
If this is just a hunting rig that you only shoot 10-15 rounds threw a year then I wouldnt bother. A 308 will put meat in the freezer every bit as well or better than the 6.5 However If you like shooting targets then dont even hesitate at doing it.
