So what type of parasol emergers did you buy? I can see this pattern should imiate bugs that congregate just beneath the surface film before emerging such as chironomids, some caddis and other bugs (cripples perhaps) that can't easily break the surface tension. I suspect it would be best fished in flat water.

This fly might be the ticket for those lake whitefish rising on those calm warm summer nights.
The one's I got are midge emergers in black,olive,red and white.
